Are you looking for an internship in the Fashion Industry in Berlin? If yes, then I am happy to introduce you to Fabletics – an inclusive sportswear brand created in Los Angeles.
Founded in Los Angeles back in 2013, Fabletics is all about creating stylish and inclusive sportswear that empowers people to lead active lifestyles. And guess what? It’s part of the TechStyle Fashion Group family, alongside the likes of Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty.
Is your internship semester getting closer? Feeling stressed and worried about finding the right place to intern? I’ve been there! Let me tell you about my experience and reassure you that you’re not alone in this adventure.
My journey began during the summer break preceding my third semester at Macromedia, where I began applying for internships across various companies in various countries. I wanted to leverage my fluency in Polish, English, and Vietnamese, as well as my diverse background – growing up as a Vietnamese girl in Poland. Despite knowing that my internship semester was still a year away, I couldn’t shake off the anxiety of not securing an opportunity in time.
As a fashion management student I really wanted to get an internship in the fashion sector. However, after months and months of receiving rejection emails every day I decided to apply for every management related internship offer I could find – not only in the fashion industry. I was applying every week from August 2023 until January 2024, and finally managed to get one interview.
I will be honest I didn’t remember applying for this position because at one point I was applying for everything, everywhere. I received an email with a message offering me an interview – finally! From that point within a week I got the position as an Influencer Relations Intern for the UK market.
I had 2 days to prepare for my interview. I was learning about the company, trying to find as much information as possible about what type of questions I could get, and somehow I managed.
My first interview lasted about 45 minutes. The interviewer from HR asked me a few questions regarding my experience and how I thought it was relevant for the Influencer Relations Intern position. She then told me a bit more about my team and how the further interview process would look like. After receiving positive feedback I got invited for the second interview with my future manager, for which I had 1 day to prepare.
My second interview started off just like the previous one. I had to talk about my past experience and how it would be relevant for this position. The manager explained to me how my day-to-day tasks would look and asked me “how do i adapt to changes”. Personally I dislike changes, I like stability, which is not an acceptable answer for your interviewer – i think. I figured my way around it and said: “Growing up as a Vietnamese kid in Poland I had to adapt to different environments. At home I had to embrace my Vietnamese culture, while at school I had to be more “Polish” and embody more of the Polish culture. This constant need to change and adapt taught me how to be flexible and adjust to different situations and places”.
The team at the time was going through a lot of internal changes, which is why I think my answer to this particular question got me the job. After this interview I also got positive feedback and the last step in this process was doing an assignment.
The assignment was to find 5 – 10 influencers (both male and female) that would be a good fit for Fabletics and make a presentation. All influencers had to have between 10k – 90k followers and had to be UK based. The tasks seemed quite easy in the beginning, however it wasn’t. After sitting on Instagram for 3 days, I managed to finish the assignment and send it. On the same day – it was a Friday – I received the email with the offer!
