Bye Bye University of Greenwich

Hello everyone, we hope you are all well. Our last week in sunny London at the beautiful University of Greenwich is about to begin. Besides our exam period we are just trying to collect the last nice memories here. To give you a little insight into our exam life and our last days, we’ll start with our very last blog entry.

We are both at Macromedia, media and communication management students and so we had four modules that we had to take at UoG. All of our modules were the same as the business course here. In all modules we had to take a term paper and in one module we also had to take a written exam. The term papers were all around 3000 to 5000 words maximum. The written exam has now been in our last week. This all sounds more than it is, and trust us, if we can manage this in addition to our free time program, then you can do it too.
The demand at the UOG is absolutely within the limits. So you still have plenty of time to meet up with friends and explore London. Almost all exams and assignments have a deadline in December, so you can be back home for Christmas.

Christmas time in London is something very special. All the shop windows and restaurants are decorated for Christmas and the whole city is full of excitement. If you want to ride a roller coaster for a day and drink mulled wine, we recommend Winterwonderland. Winterwonderland is built in the middle of Hyde Park and is a theme park with a Christmas atmosphere. Fun Fact: there is even a Bavarian Village with beer, pretzels and white sausage.

We often spent our weekends in the city centre and enjoyed exploring new corners of London. But especially in the evenings, there is one place to be: Soho. With its affordable bars, pubs and clubs, we had a very a good time and enjoyed our evenings, we were very often in this part of town.
Tip: If you want to go to a bar in a group of more than 5 people, make a reservation beforehand to make sure you get in, as Soho is very busy, especially at weekends. In restaurants and bars in general, it is often necessary to book a table in advance.

One experience you should definitely take with you in London is vintage shopping. Brick Lane, Shoreditch and Notting Hill are must-visit places.

The last 3 months were an indescribable, unique experience for us, which we will never forget in our lives. In addition to the newly acquired knowledge in the lectures, we were able to take away a lot for ourselves personally from this time. We made new friends, got to know a different culture and experienced living independently in a foreign country. Fortunately, we can hardly confirm the myth of rainy England in autumn and winter, as London has mostly shown us its sunny side in the last few weeks.

For us, it is now time to say goodbye to this wonderful city. However, we can say with certainty that this will not be our last visit here in London. The decision to spend our semester abroad here at the University of Greenwich was absolutely right and can be highly recommended.

London, you will be missed!
